Notice Boards Policy

St James Church, Silsden

Our Vision is to be a Jesus-Shaped Church

A    Policy regarding the use of our street-level notice board

The street level notice board is to be used only for publicising events limited to the following (and in the order of priority set out below):

  1. St James Church events and/or causes and Churches Together in Silsden event and/or causes
  2. Local community non-profit making events (which are not incompatible with Church of England teaching and policy, and which are not party political)

Notifications/posters on the board can be placed by the organisers of the events referred to at 2 above but must be of a reasonable size (as decided by the PCC in the circumstances).

The PCC reserves the right: –

 – to remove or relocate such notification/posters in order to accommodate other users and other events

– to remove any notifications/posters which do not comply with Church of England policy current from time to time.

 – to remove any notification/poster once the event in question has happened (but we would hope the organizer will attend to that promptly)

 – to remove or suspend the use of the notice board at any time and for any period of time

 – to change this policy without notice

B     Policy regarding the use of the wall for the display of banners

 Our Church Hall car park wall may be used only for publicising events limited to the following (and in the order of priority set out below)

  1. St James Church events and/or causes and Churches Together in Silsden events and/or causes
  2. Local community non-profit making events (which are not incompatible with Church of England teaching and policy, and which are not party political)
  3. Commercial events where such event is linked directly to the hire and use of our Church Hall in accordance with our Church Hall lettings policy

Publicity using this wall must be by PVC banners with sufficient eyelets to be safely tied to the wall and must be pre-approved by or on behalf of the PCC and installed by the church.

The PCC reserves the right: –

 – to remove or relocate such banners in order to accommodate other users and other events

 – to remove any banners which do not comply with the St James policy current from time to time.

 – to remove any banner once the event in question has happened

 – to suspend the use of the wall for the display of banners at any time and for any period of time

 – to change this policy without notice

C      Policy regarding the use of chalk boards on the church wall

From time to time the Church will place a chalkboard on its boundary wall. Use of this by third parties is entirely at the discretion of the PCC who must first give consent (the power to consent has been delegated to the Church clergy who may still defer to the PCC on this matter)

D     Policy regarding the use of the Church Yard notice board

This notice board is for St James Church’s use only
